2. Principles
froxlor.org does not set cookies, does not embed external fonts, videos or social media plugins and does not share data with advertising networks. Fonts and graphics are served from our own server. If you dismiss the hint about the German version, this is stored locally in your browser (local storage) only and never transmitted.
3. Server log files
When you visit the website, the web server processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, requested address, referrer, amount of data transferred, HTTP status and user agent. The purpose is secure and stable operation (e.g. defending against attacks, analysing errors). The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Log files are deleted automatically after 7 days at the latest.
4. Audience measurement with Matomo
To understand which content is used, froxlor.org uses a self-hosted installation of the open source software Matomo. Matomo runs without cookies, IP addresses are truncated (anonymised) before they are stored, and a "Do Not Track" setting of your browser is respected. Pages viewed, time, referrer and general browser and device information are recorded. The data never leaves the self-hosted server and is not combined with other data. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in improving the website). You can object at any time by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser.
5. Version check and news feed in froxlor
This section concerns servers running froxlor – not visitors of this website.
froxlor installations regularly ask version.froxlor.org for updates and load the dashboard news from inside.froxlor.org. In doing so, the installed froxlor version and the IP address of the server are transmitted.
- Purpose: notification about available updates, warnings about outdated and insecure versions, and statistics about which versions are in use (to plan support and security updates).
- Storage: the IP address is not stored in plain text, only as a keyed hash (HMAC-SHA256 with a secret key). We store this hash, a corresponding hash of the network range, the reported version and the time of the first and last contact. Requests from build servers (e.g. GitHub Actions) are not counted.
- Retention: Entries are not deleted automatically; we delete the data of an IP address on request at any time.
- Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure operation and further development of the software).
The version check and the news feed can be disabled in the froxlor settings. If you want the data of a specific IP address to be deleted, write to team@froxlor.org.
6. Data from GitHub
The figures on the team page (contributors, commits, stars) are fetched by our server directly from GitHub and cached. No data about you is transmitted to GitHub.
7. External links
froxlor.org links to other services, e.g. the documentation, forum, Discord, GitHub, the demo, froxlor.com and packages.froxlor.org. Once you follow a link, the privacy policy of the respective provider applies.
8. Contact by e-mail
If you write to us by e-mail, we process your details to answer your request (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer needed for this purpose.
9. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Please contact team@froxlor.org.
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (HBDI), Gustav-Stresemann-Ring 1, 65189 Wiesbaden, Germany.
10. Changes
This privacy policy is updated whenever the processing changes. Last updated: October 2026.
